Taxes done

So I officially feel like a real grown-up person! I just completed our taxes, all by myself. Yup. Are you proud? I am. Because ever since we've been married I've taken advantage of the SUU accounting program and just taken my taxes for those poor schmoes to do for me. They always did a very good job, and it was completely free! This year I was so nervous, not sure how do to taxes alone and also we have the fun little bonus of having to do 2 state returns since we moved. I finished all three in just about 3 1/2 hours and we are getting a nice refund. I feel so empowered!! (okay, Turbo Tax helped a little, but the rest was all me :)

Embarrass mommy moment

I've just had one of those wonderful "embarrass mommy" moments at the post office with my 2 year old. I guess I was pushing it to head out so dangerously close to nap time, but I just had this last stop and figured we could wing in and out within 5 minutes and be on our way home for naps...wrong! Of course my first clue should have been when I walked in the post office and the line was out the door (sigh). Kassidy immediately stops walking and plants herself right in the doorway where people are trying to move in and out. I can't get her to budge. With my hands full of valentines and my purse, I am forced to squat and scoop the little stinker up in my arms. We move into line where Kassidy proceeds to start asking for one of the suckers we're mailing to family.

Me: "No, you can't have one of these. We're sending these to Jenny and Daniel. You can have one when we get home."

Kassidy: "NO!!! I want a tinkerbell sucker NOW!"

I'm starting to get awkward glances from people in the post office as I try to hush my child. Now we're getting a full blown 2 year old tantrum and I'm shutting down to keep from crying. My pregnancy hormones make it too easy to cry these days. I get a few 'I've been there, it's okay' looks from moms, but the post office is full of mostly older men and little thugs who are looking at me like they'd enjoy shoving a sock in my daughter's mouth.

Well, what an excursion, and to top it off, she falls asleep as soon as we get in the car to drive home. You just can't win some days, and it seems your kids enjoy embarrassing you too much. But I still love being a mommy :)

It's a...

At our trip to the radiologist today we got some fun news. We're having a BOY! We didn't expect to find out what we're having today since I'm only 15 weeks along, but apparently our little guy was strutting his stuff because the radiologist said there was no question that he was a boy. Fun! Now we'll have one of each flavor :)

Dear Lost

Dear LOST,
Kevin and I are quite excited that you are returning for a final season starting tomorrow night. WE already have plans to be planted in front of the tv a half hour before you start and have anything we might need for the remaining hour so we won't be interrupted. If you decide to just to a recap of the previous 5 seasons, I will be VERY upset!! You kept us waiting an extra month to start anyway and I want to get back into things quickly. Also, if this entire series turns out to be nothing more than a dream sequence, I will disown you and never speak of your wonderfulness again. Please don't disappoint...
Sincerely,
An avid fan
