Playing School

Kassidy is in a wonderful stage where she just soaks up information. She really wants to learn about everything and anything. Lately, she's been asking about letters and their sounds, so I decided (with a great example from a friend) to start teaching her at home. We do school 3-5 times a week, depending on the week. We only do about 30 minute lessons, because that's about all the attention I can keep from Kassidy, and we have to do them while baby brother is napping. It's been 6 weeks, we are on the letter F this week, and Kassidy is flourishing! She loves the one on one attention and I'm impressed with all she knows and how she retains so much information. I wish adult brains were the same way. I'm so proud of my almost-4 year old and her love of knowledge!
Here she is doing math as she sorts cereal during "C" week.

Kassidy's first Primary talk

A couple weeks ago our beautiful little Sunbeam (that's the name of the 3 year old class in our church) had her first opportunity to give a talk in Primary. She was so excited! We worked on the talk the week before and got her all dolled up and hair curled the morning of. She even colored the picture herself. The topic of her talk was "I will follow God's plan for me". She gave a perfect delivery the day of and was very articulate and adorable. I'm a little biased, but I was so proud of my big girl! Since it's not really appropriate to film during church, here's a repeat performance done at home. She was being a little silly for the camera, but you get the gist. (Sorry, this is mainly for the grandparents).

HELP!

Hey all you uber-crafty women out there. I'm in need of a little help. I'm currently attempting to up-cycle my favorite pair of jeans with a hole in the knee into a cute and flirty denim skirt. I like the A-line style that hits just below the knee. I've ripped out the seams and am ready to begin sewing. Do any of you know of a great tutorial on how to do the rest? I think I could figure it out on my own if I needed to, but I love the blog tutorials with pictures, they're so helpful for a beginning sewer like me. If you happen to know of one, I'd love a link. Thanks!

Korbin pictures

Our little man is changing too much, and much too quickly. We needed to get an updated picture before he decides to up and grow a beard on us :) My sweet and very talented friend Constance did these beautiful photos for us. Check out more of her stuff here. Did I mention that I have the cutest little football head boy ever? I could kiss this face ALL day!! Here he is at 7 months.

He has 2 teeth now and LOVES to run his tongue over the two tiny tidbits on the bottom :)

P.S. The adorable hat was made by my sister-in-law Kim. She sells them, and MUCH more, including baby shoes, headbands, and all things CUTE on her etsy site "Cotton Corner" here.
