Happy Birthday Kassidy!

My little angel turned 3 this week, I can't believe it! She has been such a joy and blessing in our family and we wouldn't know what to do without her. She's also been such an easy child, which worries me a little for the coming year and all the changes. I hope she stays this good! We spent a fun day at Six Flags, then went out for Chinese for dinner (Kassidy' choice), and ended the night with presents and cake. It was a long, fun, and exhausting day! Kassidy was such a sweetheart, she kept saying "thank you" and "I love you Mom and Dad!" all day. We didn't have a birthday meltdown like I was expecting. Kassidy was a little spoiled this year. Next year I'll be smart and realize that grandma's send way more than she needs so we should only get her one or two presents. We had a nice time celebrating our baby girl!<

My due date came and went, and still no Kassidy.

We were so happy to finally meet our little princess!

Grandma Marchant made this beautiful dress for Kassidy by hand. The stitching was intricate and SO beautiful! She loved it :)

She was too excited when she woke up that we let her open a couple presents

Kevin did a great job making Kassidy's cake

I love this face!

I think she's sick of princess stuff because she asked for a cars and trains this year :)

Kevin had just as much fun setting this all up as Kassidy did playing with it.

Six Flags

Thomas the Train is always a favorite, and one of the few rides I can go on too.
Kassidy's birthday was this week--I can't believe I have a 3 year old!! For her birthday she just really wanted to see Shouka, the killer whale at Six Flags. Since we have season passes, we thought we'd take advantage of the gorgeous day and spend some time seeing the animals and doing a few rides. Kassidy loves all the water animal shows! It was really hot too so the girls ran through a few of the outdoor fountains to cool off. We were pooped after a long day of fun :)
The baby giraffe was so cute :)

Summer lovin'

I realized we've been doing lots of fun things that I need to update before we do even more fun things and fall even further behind. With the warmer weather comes more outside activities. We've been taking advantage of our apartment pools, which have been great! Kevin and Kassidy were having a great time, and Kassidy's buddy Sara showed up to swim a little later. They had a good time together, as always.

Santa Cruz

In our attempt to take advantage of the short summer vacation we have, we planned a quick trip to Santa Cruz with some friends. Both our husbands are in school and happened to have some time off at the same time, so we packed our kidlets and headed to Santa Cruz for 2 days of sun and fun. We had a blast! For never having been there and not really planning much, we found plenty to keep us busy. The weather was perfect and we all came away with much pinker faces than we we got there. We spent most of our time at the beach, visiting 3 main beaches and driving past many more that we would like to go back and visit. Our friends have a little girl Kassidy's age and the two of them get along so well! They were content to just play in the sand, and we didn't even have any tantrums...so nice! We had a wonderful mini-vacation and are grateful for fun friends who would drop everything and come with us for an impromptu vacation. Warning: Lots of pictures!

CHEESE!

Hard to tell, but there were dolphins swimming right out in front of us at the beach.

I love these two!

Our friend's baby Andrew hung out in the tent most of the time. He was such a good baby!

My beautiful friend Jen. Isn't she cute?

Cozy, eh?

The crabs Kevin caught to show the girls. We wanted to keep the hermit crab, but didn't know how to take care of it.

Matt you will be missed!

Matt we love you and will miss you! We look forward to that day that we will be reunited again! Thanks for the memories!

Ryan Matthew Marchant, age 36, was born May 15, 1974 and returned home to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on May 31, 2010 after a valiant battle with melanoma. Matt is the son of Kent and Danielle Marchant, brother to Brian, Jason, Traci Welker, Katie Martin (Alan) and father to Caden Patey. Matt graduated from Orem High School and seminary. Matt enjoyed the mountains where he found solitude and appreciated the beauty and wildlife.

He loved his horse, "Pepper", and his dog "Bodie". He loved the farm where he spent countless hours hunting, fishing and roaming the hills. Matt worked several years for Truss Works as well as several years for Skip Dunn, where he became a pro at excavation. He readied the grounds all over the valley and lovingly was called "Burley" by his coworkers. Matt was a man of his word and a loyal friend. He especially loved his family.

Done with school...for now

Kevin's officially done with his first year of pharmacy school...YAY!!! The three exclamation points do my real excitement NO justice, I'm thrilled to have him home for a while. It's nice to have a year under our belts and know what to expect next year. I say "OUR" belts because I feel like I have been through just as much as Kevin during this first year. It's been hard, but I'm sure it's bringing us just that much closer to our goals and dreams. For now, we are more than ecstatic to have Kevin with us for the summer. He hasn't found a job since he only has a two month break and all the 3rd and 4th year students took the internships. I'm actually more excited about this because now we can spend some quality time together before the baby comes and school starts up again. We've decided to move, still in the same town and same ward, but just into our friends' house. Should be fun, albeit stressful right before I'm due. Kassidy has loved having Kevin home this week and I've loved having a backup parent so I'm not always the bad guy :) Congrats babe! One year down, three more to go!!
